Welcome to our Website
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the newly developed Community Education Facilitators (CEFA) Website. I hope that you will find this website a useful resource for Community Education and information on the role of the Community Education Facilitator.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments.
Background to the CEFA
The Community Education Facilitators' Association CEFA was established in March 2004 at an inaugural meeting in Galway as a professional representative association for Community Education Facilitators (CEFs). This meeting approved the outcomes of a working group of CEF's set up the previous November, ratified the proposed Constitution and elected an Executive Committee. At the end of the organisations first two years in existence, the strategic plan and constitution were published. The development of this website is a direct result of the actions contained in the Strategic Plan.
The Website will provide a means of information sharing for CEF's nationally and for other stakeholders both nationally and internationally to learn more about the role of the CEF and more generally Community Education in Ireland.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the huge amount of work and commitment given by the members of the CEFA since the first working group on the constitution was established in November 2003. CEFs come from a diverse range of backgrounds and bring to the role a huge breadth and depth of experience.
On behalf of the association, I would like to thank all those who have contributed to the development of the association since 2003. In particular the Further Education Section of the Department of Education and Science, the Vocational Education Committees, Magico.ie for the development of this website and all our colleagues in other professional associations, in the IVEA, AONTAS and in the broader Adult and Community Education Service, nationally and locally. I hope that members of the CEFA and the broader Adult and Community Education sector find this website a useful resource for information and discussion on issues of importance in Community Education.
